The MTG: 'Nature Culture'

The relationship between humankind and nature has long provided an aesthetic and philosophical context for art making. Nowadays, this relationship is often addressed in view of the urgency of climate change and the environmental crisis where humankind is seen as in conflict with the natural world.

Nature Culture is an exhibition of Hawke’s Bay artists and collection items, where each artwork in some way expresses a less acquisitive connection with the living world, be it aesthetic or philosophical. In this way, the exhibition celebrates the depth and diversity of our relationship with the natural world.

Nature Culture brings Hawke's Bay Museums Trust, Ruawharo Ta-u-rangi collection alongside the work of g.bridle, Chris Bryant-Toi, Annette Bull, Nycki Crawford, Billie Culy, Peter Madden and Ben Pearce.

On view at the MTG Hawke's Bay, the exhibition opens April 1 and continues through November 20.
